We play the full traditional range of flutes, from piccolo to bass flute; and all kinds of music, from full orchestral overtures to easy listening and even chart music.

We take part in competitions, including the SAFBA Scottish Championships (of which we are previous Champions and Scottish Open Champions).

We play in concerts anywhere. Venues include Biggar Little Festival, churches and old folk’s homes. We are open to requests to play, and will consider any booking; whether for full orchestra or smaller groups, such as the Whirlwind concert group.

We have approximately thirty-five members, whose ages range from 7 to 75. Everyone is welcome; from experienced players, to those who played at school and want to get back to playing, to absolute beginners.

Membership costs only £2 per week for adults, and £1 per week for children/concessions.
Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 4pm to 6pm.

We hold a learners’ class on Wednesdays at 6.30pm. Lessons are offered in flute or percussion, including timpani. We provide the instruments. Do not be put off if you are a bit older: we have had five over 30s join in the last few years, each of whom took up flute for the first time!
We have recently purchased these premises, following five years of hard fund-raising. Our members and families raised over 60% of the funds.

We were supported by the local population and businesses in Harthill, Eastfield etc.

Grants were received from the Lloyds TSB Foundation Trust, North Lanarkshire Council, Gannochy Trust, The Hugh Fraser Foundation and The Scottish Coal Regeneration Fund.
